Julie McLachlan is a registered psychologist. She has been providing psychological based services for children, adolescents and adults for over 9 years. She has worked in a variety of settings including Griffith University, non government organisations and Queensland Health. She has been working with adults in private practice since 2014 and is a Medicare provider. Julie has assisted people experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, anger, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss, low confidence, challenges associated with difficult childhood experiences and people who identify as being a ‘highly sensitive person’.
Julie is passionate about being able to enhance psychological well-being in her clients, and she continues to extend her professional skills. She is experienced using a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Additionally, due to her own personal challenges, she has been exploring a range of spiritual topics and practices for over a decade. She has found mindfulness and compassion practices being particularly helpful in her own life, and she is committed to a personal mindfulness and compassion-based practice.
Following her own personal transformation with mindfulness and self-compassion, Julie has developed a special interest in her clinical practice in compassion and mindfulness-based therapies.
As a psychologist, she supports clients with kindness and curiosity to assist them with an understanding of their life’s challenges while identifying practices and strategies that will help them through these challenges.
